The 1915 London agreements provided for the annexation of Istria and Giulia region to the Italian sovereignty but not of Fiume, military port of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, seaway for Hungary and also city of strong cultural vivacity, intense economic activities and crossroads of languages, cultures and people.
In 1919 after the end of the Great War Fiume hosted intellectual, soldiers, revolutionary activist men and women ready to refuse the London dictations in order to live an experience able to enhance the Italian identity of the town.
Sooner Fiume became the ideal place where to attempt the changing promised by the end of the war. The presence of D’Annunzio, of revolutionary soldiers, young volunteers and artists make of Fiume an ambiguous and subversive laboratory.
The exhibition will show this event in which also took part people from Trentino who underwent a strong and deep experience.
