Documents and memories
The Museum Archive is responsible for the collection, preservation, organisation, and development of printed material (documents), drawings (maps, plans), audiovisual material and small artefacts relative to war history from the modern age to the 21st century.
The documents preserved in the archive regard the history of armies and their equipment, in addition to political events, technology, economics and cultural affairs. In the last twenty years, the archive has collected and catalogued popular writing of local, national and international interest, working closely with the Museo Storico in Trento (now called the Fondazione Museo Storico del Trentino). Finally, the archive provides support for the organisation of exhibitions; technical and specialised studies; and historical research related to all aspects of military history. The archive currently consists of 200 fonds.
The archive was officially declared as being of especially important historical interest by the Soprintendenza per i beni librari ed archivistici of the Provincia Autonoma di Trento on 14 February 2005.
For more information and to know the archives stored at the Museum see the the Archive page in the Italian web site.
